Cat Ba Island Exploring
After some healthy negotiations, we handed over some money to a guy who then gave us his keys to his motorbike (scooter) with only one rule…return it by 6pm. That simple. Now, I have been on many Harleys in my life, but never on the back of a scooter with an Austrian who was yodeling while driving. Elias definitely makes life funny. We cruised around the island and visited the “Hospital Cave”. It is a 3 level cave in the jungle that was used in the war by the VC to treat their leaders & VIP. Completely bomb proof, primitive but very functional.
Strolled through the markets. Once again, found some very interesting things like jars of pickled snakes, scorpions, & seahorses…something to cure any ailment.
We went to the three beaches on the island that have huge, fancy hotels on them. We had to check out the prices and they were still under $100usd. Amazing! Our place is called Cat Ba Dream which is on the harbour with seaview; a new hotel and only $10usd! It really is ridiculous how cheap it is here.
